Meet Our Team of Medical Specialists
Our practice consists of a team of qualified friendly doctors who are specialists in their unique fields. Our medical team includes four Gastroenterologists, two Oncologists, one Sleep and Respiratory Physician , one General Physician and one Dietitian.
Dr Alvaro Cervera
Dr Alvaro Cervera is a Consultant Neurologist working at Royal Darwin Hospital. He works as a general neurologist with a main interest in stroke. Other interests are migraine and other headaches, epilepsy, movement disorders and multiple sclerosis.
Dr Zina Valaydon
Dr Zina Valaydon is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She is the Head of Liver services at the Western Hospital and consults privately at Central Melbourne Gastroenterology. Dr Valaydon also practices from NT Medical Specialist in Darwin, NT
Mr Suraj Rathnayake
Mr Suraj Rathnayake obtained his MBBS in 2004 from university of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He completed his General Surgical training in Sri Lanka obtaining his MD surgery in 2011 and Board certification as a Specialist in 2013.He also obtained MRCS in England in 2011 and done a fellowship in minimal access surgery in India.
Dr Elio Galiardo
Dr Elio Gagliardo works as a senior consultant in General Medicine at Royal Darwin Hospital, where he is also responsible for the acute medical clinic.
Dr Aaron Oh – Specialist Physician in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine
He graduated from the University of Adelaide and completed his Respiratory training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Dr Madhi Sundaram
Dr Madhi Sundaram is a General Physician and Nephrologist and is a pre-eminent senior staff specialist at the Royal Darwin Hospital. He has been working as a consultant in the Division of Medicine since 2011
Dr Kanaka Jeyaraman
Dr Kanakamani Jeyaraman was born in India and moved to Darwin 3 years ago. Her endocrine training was at India’s premier institute.
Dr Aruna Muthumala
Dr Aruna Muthumala obtained his MBBS in 2000 and has been working as a Specialist since 2011. His Specialist training was initially in Sri Lanka and then in Peninsula Health in Victoria.
Dr Narayan Karanth
Dr Narayan Karanth is a Medical Oncologist who has been providing oncology care at Darwin through Royal Darwin Hospital & Alan Walker Cancer Centre
Dr Suresh Sivanesan
Dr Suresh Sivanesan completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and his specialist training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia.
Dr Guru Iyngkaran
Dr Guru Iyngkaran, along with Dr Edmund Tse and Dr Suresh Sivanesan, he has set up the Gastroenterology Department at the Royal Darwin Hospital
Dr Edmund Tse
Dr Edmund Tse has helped to establish a gastroenterology department at the Royal Darwin Hospital over the last three years.
